An epic partnership between Roland, a Japanese electronic instrument maker, and Ground Up Chale, a creative center and incubator firm, profiles four of Ghana’s most prominent producers, with an emphasis on their studios and hometowns.

Dubbed, ‘Beats & Life,’ the 4-part docuseries will delve into the lives of music producers MOG Beatz, StreetBeatz, Mix Master Garzy, and DJ Breezy -who have collectively worked with music titans such as Bob Marley, Kevin Gates, Sarkodie, Davido, Wizkid, Shatta Wale, R2Bees, and Teni – as they take viewers along in a day in a life and share about their studios and respective hometowns.

Sharing about the docuseries, Glen Sho, founder of Ground Up Chale stated:

“This docuseries has been a long time in the making and I’m very happy that we can finaly share it with the world. Afrobeat is taking over global airwaves right now and we wanted to celebrate the people who make and dictate the sound; the producers: MOG Beatz, StreetBeatz, Mix Master Garzy and DJ Breezy have been fundamental in laying the groundwork for this now-global sound.”

The founder of FORM – the creative agency which helmed the docuseries – and cofounder of GUTA, Ground Up Chale’s in-house creative agency, Eph Yeboah, also added:

“We wanted to create a docuseries that deep-dived into the history of some of the architects of the Afrobeat sound. These are the people that make us dance, the energy givers. I believed that these people did not receive the recognition they deserved and I wanted to draw attention to them and highlight their contributions.”

Ground Up Chale’s YouTube channel will be updated with new episodes every Monday.
