Jason David Frank, original Power Rangers star actor, has reportedly passed away aged 49.

While a cause of death is yet to be confirmed by the coroner’s office, a TMZ report states that Frank committed suicide, according to sources with “direct knowledge.”

A representative for Frank told PEOPLE after the news broke, “Unfortunately, it is true.”

He added, “Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will be truly missed.”

Frank made appearances in Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Power Rangers Hyperforce, and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel in addition to the 1995 and 1997 Power Rangers films after starring as Tommy Oliver in the show’s original run, which ran for three seasons from 1993 to 1995.

Expressing his sadness on Sunday (Nov. 20), Walter Emmanuel Jones, the original Black Power Ranger who co-starred with Frank in the Fox Kids television series from the 1990s, posted on social media.

“Can’t believe it … RIP Jason David Frank. My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family,” Jones wrote alongside a photo of Frank and himself.

Brian Butler-Au, Frank’s agent, also posted a tribute to his friend on Instagram.

“Very sad to hear about my friend and client Jason David Frank’s passing,” Butler-Au wrote. “Jason was a martial artist best known for playing Tommy in the Power Rangers. He was a true martial artist and I had the pleasure of managing him for the fights he competed in. If anyone you know may be depressed please check on them.”

Frank is survived by his four children. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Frank’s family and loved ones in this difficult time.

Rest In Peace Jason David Frank.
