Bashar Jackson, AKA Pop Smoke, was murdered in the Hollywood Hills district of Los Angeles more than a year ago. More information about his demise is now being accessible.

According to the New York Daily News, new testimony from a detective involved with the investigation claims that Pop Smoke was shot and killed by a 15-year-old who happens to be one of five people arrested in connection with his death.

During a taped interview with a cellmate in May 2020 at a juvenile detention facility, the unidentified 15-year-old inmate confessed to pulling the trigger, according to LAPD Det. Carlos Camacho.

Since allegedly admitting to pulling the trigger during a filmed interview with a cellmate in May 2020 at a juvenile detention facility, the unidentified boy is currently facing murder and robbery charges in the case.

Camacho said, “He admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Beretta 9 (mm.),”

According to the New York Daily News, the detective said that, after the 4 a.m. home invasion on Feb. 19, 2020, the 15-year-old alleged shooter “admitted that they asked for the jewelry” which led to “a confrontation” with Pop Smoke.

Referencing the recorded interview, Camacho said: “They got into a fight, and he shot him three times. He said he shot him on the back.”

All four suspects were part of the same gang, according to testifying law enforcement officers, and heard of Jackson’s whereabouts from his Instagram site.

They were allegedly able to discern the rapper’s Airbnb address on a gift bag tag, as well as the fact that he was carrying a stack of cash in one shot. According to testimony given on Friday, the cash was later discovered still in a drawer at the rental home.
