After being reported to have leaked online over the weekend, Sony and Marvel have finally released the highly anticipated first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it’s every bit as exciting as expected!
The teaser shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man dealing with the consequences of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio revealing his true identity to the world. Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is also seen inadvertently ripping open the multiverse in the teaser.
Strange could be heard saying: “We tampered with the stability of space-time…..The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.”
The new trailer also features Alfred Molina’s Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock, who appeared in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 but no sighting of Jamie Foxx character ‘Electro,’ making a comeback as was originally touted as something that fans would witness, however, this is only the first trailer.
Tom Holland teased fans on Instagram following the trailer’s release, saying:
“You’ve waited long enough… I told you, you weren’t ready.”
Meanwhile, stars that are confirmed to feature in the film include Zendaya, Jon Favreau, J. B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Wong, and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin).
Fans can expect to see the Jon Watts-directed film on December 17, 2021, soon after the release of Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ on September 3rd, and Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ on November 5th.
