Noel Clarke has been suspended by BAFTA and Sky after sexual misconduct and bullying allegations made by 20 women. Clarke, 45, is accused of sexually harassing a group of actors, producers, and other film workers, according to The Guardian, with behavior including inappropriate sexual contact and harassment, taking and transmitting unwanted sexual material, and bullying on set.

In the report released last night, Clarke’s fellow Brotherhood producer Gina Powell and actress Jahannah James openly shared their accounts, while other women spoke anonymously about accusations of his misconduct between 2004 and 2019.

According to the Guardian, the BAFTA Film Award organizers were aware of some of the accusations 13 days before Clarke received the BAFTA Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award on April 10.

“In light of the allegations of serious misconduct regarding Noel Clarke in The Guardian this evening, BAFTA has taken the decision to suspend his membership and the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award immediately and until further notice,” an Academy spokesperson said.

After the accusations were made public, Sky TV “halted” their work with the actor, who produced and stars in the hit Sky One drama Bulletproof, issuing a statement saying, “Effective immediately, we have halted Noel Clarke’s involvement in any future Sky productions.”

Clarke’s attorneys wrote to The Guardian in a 29-page document that he “vehemently” opposes “any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing” and plans to fight “against these false allegations”.
