According to TMZ, Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has agreed to a plea deal that may significantly reduce his punishment for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California.

Federal prosecutors, according to documents submitted, Kenneth Petty has agreed to plead guilty to one count of failure to register in exchange for a low sentence per the guidelines.

While the judge will ultimately decide Petty’s sentencing, the feds state in the documents acquired by TMZ that a statutory minimum sentence of 5 years of supervised release is required.

Many would likely suggest that Petty should have stood his ground and battle the charge in court. However, if found guilty after trial, he’s likely to serve the maximum sentencing of 10 years with lifetime supervision after the fact. All the same, even with the plea deal, the judge could still sentence Petty to some days or months in prison.

Petty was re-charged in March 2020 after he and Nicki had moved to California the previous year, and according to the feds, he never registered as a sex offender with local authorities, as he was obligated to do because of a 1995 conviction in New York for first-degree attempted rape.

Kenneth had to seek permission from the court to be present when Nicki gave birth to their first child last year, as a result of the new charge.

Stay tuned for more updates as it develops.
