According to the Los Angeles Times, a new track from Beyoncé is set to feature in the upcoming film about Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams.
Recently previewed during the Telluride Film Festival, to garner hype, ‘King Richard’ stars Will Smith as King Richard. The Times reports that the film’s end credits feature Beyoncé’s new song “Be Alive” and is written for the film by Bey and Roc Nation artist Dixon.
As noted in the Times’ film review, Beyoncé is poised to perform at the Oscars next year and if so, the song is likely to appear in a second trailer for the film, due out in November. The Williams family-endorsed first trailer was previously unveiled in July which showed Smith in the lead role of Richard Williams.
As executive producers of the film, Venus and Serena Williams shared about the film’s inception and what it will entail, during a sit-down with Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show.
Venus said: “It’s really about my dad and how he literally changed the game and how this started. He’s a revolutionary kind of person. I love him to death.”
King Richard will be released in theaters on Nov. 19 and will be available for 31 days on HBO Max.
