Amassing strong backers such as Nas and Pusha T, the new tech company, ‘Audius’ whose aim is to rile up the music streaming industry with its addition of crypto, has secured a hefty sum of $5 million from investors to attain its ultimate goal.
For the latter, this will be his second dabble into the world of crypto, as he previously saw a massive return on his investment into crypto firm Coinbase.
Audius is a new way to listen to music, with an oversimplification of its description being the result of Spotify and Soundcloud having a child. Audius intends to incorporate the video-based social media site TikTok into play, including NFT opportunities.
Sharing his enthusiasm for the company, Nas said:
“I’ve known that blockchain will change the world since I invested in Coinbase five years ago and I believe it might be the most important technology to ever hit the music industry.”
Adding: “Everyone who uploads to Audius can be an owner, you can’t say that about any other platform.”
The company currently has about six million active users, as confirmed via a press statement.
Audius’ AUDIO token has risen 23% since the announcement, to $2.69, according to CoinGecko.
