During a recent appearance on Cosmopolitan, the Love Island star, 22, discussed her current views on cosmetic surgery after she was left wondering what she “had done” to her face during a club appearance.
The reality star first had lip fillers done when she was only 17 years and now years later, Molly-Mae is massively against the decision.
She said: “I was doing a club appearance and took a selfie. I remember staring at it and thinking, ‘I don’t know what I’ve done to my face.’’’
Molly believed she had drastically changed as she went from ‘looking like a teenager’ to a performer on ‘Botched’ – a show dedicated to extreme plastic surgery.
She said: “I’ve never thought of myself as insecure, but I must have been to do that.
“I was 17 when I first got my lips done, and it scares me to think that if I have a daughter in 10 years’ time, what it might be like for her. We need to stop normalising filler, with things like ‘Kylie Jenner [surgery] packages.”
Molly went on to touch on the subject of how young her followers are, saying she ‘sometimes forgets’ and is even ‘surprised’ that some have phones, indicating how young they might be.
The Love Island star also touched on her path to joining the show and the decisions she had to make following her time in the Majorca villa in 2019.
Molly adds that at the age of 16, she had amassed 8,000 followers and was ‘making a fair amount of money from it’. Many individuals advised her against appearing on Love Island, for this reason, fearing that the public would dislike her.
She went against their advice and joined the villa in Majorca for the fifth season of the program in 2019, and became a couple with boyfriend Tommy Fury.
Molly went on to reveal that she was swamped with job offers after coming second with beau Tommy Fury.
She said: “I’ll never forget how many people wanted to work with me. They brought me flowers and one offered me a car, even though I couldn’t drive. There were huge [financial] figures being thrown around.”
The couple remains together to this day and per Molly, they’re “soulmates.”
