Verzuz is lining up one of its most anticipated matchups yet, as Mike Will-Made It and Hit-Boy prepare to go head-to-head in a producer battle on January 30th, at 5 p.m. PT. The event will be livestreamed on Apple Music from the producers’ Los Angeles studios and is being presented by Complex and Apple Music, in collaboration with Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s Verzuz platform.
Framed as a pure producer face-off, the battle will spotlight two catalogs that have helped define modern hip-hop and pop over the last decade.
Mike Will-Made It enters the battle with a run of era-shaping records that dominate both charts and culture. His production credits include Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.”, “DNA.”, and “XXX”, Beyoncé’s “Formation”, Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” and “No Type”, Lil Wayne’s “Love Me”, and 2 Chainz’s “No Lie”, among many others. Known for his booming, minimalist sound and crossover instincts, Mike Will continues to stay active, recently collaborating with Chief Keef on “Dirty Nachos” in 2024 and releasing new singles as he works toward a solo album.
On the other side is Hit-Boy, a diamond-certified producer whose range spans hip-hop, pop, and experimental rap. His credits include Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “N****s in Paris” and “Clique”, Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle”, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé’s “Feeling Myself”, Rihanna’s “Woo”, and A$AP Rocky’s “1 Train”. Beyond individual hits, Hit-Boy has built a reputation for cohesive projects, most notably his six-album run with Nas, including the Grammy-winning King’s Disease. He has also released his own work, such as “Surf or Drown”, and teamed up with The Alchemist on the Goldfish project.
The battle comes as Verzuz continues its revival after a quieter period. The platform returned to form at ComplexCon in November 2025 with the high-profile No Limit vs. Cash Money showdown. Complex has since expanded the format with a Companion Show offering pre- and post-battle breakdowns, signaling a renewed push to position Verzuz as a central moment in music culture again.
And we’re here for it!
