Following the waves of social media outrage that has made its way to the doors of Destiny’s Child over their hit ‘Cater 2 U,’ Michelle Williams has taken to social media to defend the Rodney Jerkins-produced track.
Destiny’s Child has made the retroactive cancellation list as the iconic group is being scrutinized for its ‘Cater 2 U’ lyrics with some women finding the track to be anti-feminist and anti-progressive in its advocacy of servitude.
Taking to Instagram, Michelle Williams shared an animated video of her face reacting to the unexpected social media outrage.
This comes after some users began to point out how “problematic” a lot of female R&B songs from the 1990s and 2000s were.

Although some women felt the song to be troublesome, others supported it, citing their reasons for adhering to the song’s beliefs.
Ummm… Why is #Cater2U problematic? The song literally says “cause baby this is YOUR DAY”
Part of me believes we wouldn’t feel the same about the lyrics if men sang it for women.
Normalize men being catered to as well.
