According to Variety, the ‘I May Destroy You’ star joins the star-studded cast of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” serving as her debut in the Marvel Universe.

As is typical, character details are kept private, but per insiders, Coel has reportedly joined filmmaker Ryan Coogler at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios, where filming began last month.

Coel isn’t new to the big screen as the talented actress has previously starred in Netflix shows “Black Mirror” and “Chewing Gum,” as well as the feature films “Been So Long” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

However, Coel impressed Hollywood in 2020 when she not only wrote but directed and starred in her critically acclaimed HBO Max series “I May Destroy You.” The British phenom then went on to receive multiple nominations including four Emmys. Coel also won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Mini-Series 2021, GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Limited Series 2021, amongst others.

While the rest of the cast has yet to be announced, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett are all expected to reprise their roles from ‘Black Panther.’

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is slated for July 8, 2022, premiere in theatres.
