British journalist Martin Bashir is said to be leaving the BBC to concentrate on his well-being after allegations surfaced claiming the renowned journalist forged documents to secure the 1995 interview with Princess Diana.
He has conducted interviews with celebrities such as Princess Diana and Michael Jackson. His resignation coincides with claims that he secretly forged papers in order to score an interview with Princess Diana back in 1995 for Panorama.
Panorama is rumored to be airing an episode in which they will explore what happened in the original show.
Speaking to his departure from the BBC, Deputy director of BBC News, Jonathan Munro said: Martin Bashir has stepped down from his position as the BBC’s religion editor and is leaving the corporation. He let us know of his decision last month, just before being readmitted to the hospital for another surgical procedure on his heart.
“Although he underwent major surgery toward the end of last year, he is facing some ongoing issues and has decided to focus on his health. We wish him a complete and speedy recovery.”
