As part of the #MC30 anniversary celebrations this year, Mariah promised to keep us busy with music release on Fridays and October 2nd wasn’t different.

Mariah unveiled her album ‘The Rarities.’ This album is a 15-track collection which features a new song recorded during sessions for the singer’s self-titled 1990 debut, ‘Here We Go Around Again, Slipping Away and Everything Fades Away.’ A song from ‘The Paperboy soundtrack, Mesmerized’ and the Lauryn Hill collaboration ‘Save the Day.’

The highly expectant album was predicted to debut in the top 20 hits on the Billboard 200 with the help of first-week sales of 21,000 units by industry analysts.

‘Rarities,’ did exceed the expectations in terms of sales but didn’t make it to the top 20 but instead is at #31 in the first-week Billboard placement.

The breakdown shows;

  • First-Week Sales (SPS): 21, 500 units
  • First-Week Sales (Pure): 14,800 units
  • First-Week Billboard 200 Placement: #31

‘Rarities’ is her fourth album to impact the Billboard 200’s top 40 in her over 30 years of album compilations.
