Lupe Fiasco has announced the follow-up to his 2018 ‘Drogas Wave’ album, dubbed ‘Drill Music In Zion,’ which is set to be released on June 24th.
Lupe also released a new track from the project, titled ‘AUTOBOTO,’ which features Nayirah and serves as a preview of what’s to come.
According to the press release, ‘Drill Music In Zion’ draws “connections between the concrete and spiritual in his hometown of Chicago.”
Lupe is said to have crafted the new album in only three days, after plunging into a selection of beats handed to him by his longtime producer Soundtrakk and emerged with a completely finished album.
“Soundtrakk is the swordmaker, I’m the samurai,” says Lupe. “He’s the mechanic, and I’m the driver.”
Lupe delivers a clear message using Soundtrakk’s deep sounds, reflecting on the past and paving a path forward, teaching strength through awareness and self-sustaining communities.
Described as a “mischievous, playful, and deceptively dense,” Lupe’s ‘AUTOBOTO’ single is powered by Soundtrakk’s epic sound composition and modal guitar melodies, as well as Lupe’s mantra-like vocal.
‘DMIZ’ follows Lupe’s sold out “Food & Liquor Tour,” where the rapper performed tracks from his debut album.
