The former Destiny’s Child star is making major moves as reports suggest the multi-talented artist is set to star in FOX’s new show ‘Our Kind Of People.’
The Karin Gist-directed series which will be executively produced by Lee Daniels will see Luckett star alongside Yaya DaCosta and Morris Chestnut.
The show follows strong-willed single mom Angela Vaughn (DaCosta) as she sets out to reclaim her family’s name and make an impact with her game-changing hair care line that highlights the natural beauty of Black women, based on Lawrence Otis Graham’s critically acclaimed book “Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class.” However, she unearths a horrible truth about her mother’s background that will turn her world on its head and permanently disturb this neighborhood.
According to Deadline, Luckett will portray Leah Franklin-Dupont, a brazen and accomplished entrepreneur who has advanced to the highest rung of Martha’s Vineyard’s rich Black elite with her husband Raymond (Chestnut).
She is aware of the demands of her position, as well as a sense of obligation to give back to the Black community. When Angela (DaCosta) comes and tries to stir things up, Leah makes it her goal to prevent Angela from being accepted into the elite before she destroys all Leah’s family has achieved.
We can already tell this is a hit series.. We can’t wait!
