PRIME, a well-known beverage brand founded by prominent content creators Logan Paul and KSI, finds itself amidst a wave of scrutiny due to concerns surrounding the elevated quantity of caffeine found in its energy drink offerings.
The highly-sought-after beverage which is available in a 12 oz. can with flavours including tropical punch, blue raspberry and strawberry watermelon, offers a caffeine quantity of 200mg. In comparison, a 12 oz. serving of Coca Cola contains just 34mg of caffeine, while Red Bull, in its standard 8.4 oz. size, contains 80mg of caffeine. However, it’s worth noting that PRIME Hydration, which is sold in bottles, contains no caffeine.
Senator Chuck Schumer, representing the state of New York, has recently urged the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to thoroughly investigate the concerning levels of caffeine, as reported by the Associated Press.
According to a statement made by Schumer, “One of the summer’s hottest status symbols for kids is not an outfit, or a toy — it’s a beverage,” a remark which is seemingly supported by multiple social media posts of children showing off their PRIME Hydration beverage collections.

Schumer added, “But buyer and parents beware because it’s a serious health concern for the kids it so feverishly targets,” he claimed.
In an official statement provided to PEOPLE, PRIME has come forward to address concerns regarding the caffeine content in their energy drinks, emphasising that their product is specifically intended for people aged 18 and above.
A spokesperson for PRIME asserted, “PRIME Energy, sold in a can, dropped in 2023 and contains a comparable amount of caffeine to other top selling energy drinks, all falling within the legal limit of the countries it’s sold in,” they said to PEOPLE. “It complied with all FDA guidelines before hitting the market and states clearly on packaging, as well as in marketing materials, that it is an energy drink and is not made for anyone under the age of 18.”
They added, “As a brand, our top priority is consumer safety, so we welcome discussions with the FDA or any other organization regarding suggested industry changes they feel are necessary in order to protect consumers.”
The news follows the pairs recent PRIME tour, ahead of their major partnership deal with Spanish La Liga football club Barcelona, as the teams official Hydration partner.
