Days after it was confirmed on social media that Keyshia Cole’s mother has died following a drug overdose, the ‘Heaven Sent’ singer has broken silence, sharing a heartfelt message on social media.
Taking to her official Instagram account, Keyshia captioned a photo of herself with Frankie Lons as she tries to explain what the loss felt like.
She wrote: “This is so hard man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel.
“You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! but you will be missed. It’s crazy because… For weeks I’ve been quoting you, from the goose that laid the golden egg, to calling Neffe shoes slow burners, cause they were bought scuffed up already 😩 your humor was unmatched!!!”
Cole goes on: “Naturally so funny, that’s what I loved about your personality…. we all did. I created this post to show my love and appreciation for your life and I would like to thank my fans + supporters, shooot your supporters and fans, for being here with us during these hard times, and the love that you all have for us…..the love for all your children was definitely felt.”
Before concluding: “When u said all you want is to have ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN IN ONE PLACE, AT ONE TIME meant the most to you, And I’m completely down to do that for you. Even through our differences …. WE LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Frank da bank!”
Other relatives who took to social media to mourn Frankie were Keyshia’s sister Elite and Frankie’s granddaughter Zayya.
“WORSE PAIN EVER …. TO SEE MY MAMA IN A BODY BAG ON HER BIRTHDAY! MY HEART SO FUCKIN BROKE,” Elite shared.
“Damn grandma Frankie. The call I just got on your birthday. I was finna come see you this week I just talked to you. Happy birthday beautiful and rest in heaven,” Zayya wrote.
In the early 2000s, Frankie Lons was introduced to fans after Keyshia Cole and her family started making TV more reality. Over the years, Frankie’s battles with substance abuse and addiction were kept rather public in hopes to inspire others in similar situations to get the help they need.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Frankie’s loved ones in this difficult time. Rest In Peace Frankie Lons.
