Katy Perry’s new highly-charged ‘Electric’ song has hit #1 on the Worldwide iTunes chart as she channels the power of Pikachu.
The upbeat “Pokemon” hit, which shares compositional comparisons with the songbirds 12x Platinum hit “Firework,” has soared atop global charts only 24 hours after its arrival on May 14th.
The Monsters & Strangerz-produced track currently remains #1 on the real-time worldwide iTunes sales chart, due to sales in the United States- where it previously peaked at #1- as well as in over 12 other countries such as Mexico, Poland, Argentina, Brazil, and others.
Despite its encouraging sales, ‘Electric’ lacks the numbers it needs to debut atop of the Billboard Hot 100. However, all hope isn’t lost yet, as the single may have a strong debut on charts the week after its initial sales tracking cycle ends, thanks to a mix of streaming and radio factors.
