According to reports, the ‘Gold Digger’ rapper has officially applied for a name change to Ye. Per TMZ, Kanye Omari West submitted the necessary paperwork for the mononym on Tuesday (August 24).
Back in a 2018 tweet, Kanye hinted at his aspirations for a name change, writing, “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
The news comes as the rapper gears up for his third listening party for his long-awaited ‘Donda’ album, following two massive listening events at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The next event which is slated to take place in Chicago’s Soldier Field is said to have a replica set of his childhood home, which is currently under construction ahead of Thursday’s event.
With the prior two smashing Apple Music’s Livestream records and selling the most merchandise at Kanye’s live concerts, we may expect similar, if not greater, sales and streaming statistics this time.
