Britney’s plea to have her dad Jamie Spears removed from her conservatorship was refused by a judge on Wednesday, according to Variety. The superstar singer, however, is able to file another petition later, as it was denied “without prejudice.”

Spears’ lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III initially submitted the request in November of 2020, which was denied by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny.

Judge Penny dismissed the motion to remove Jamie at the time, but also allowed Bessemer Trust to be designated as a co-conservator.

Bessemer Trust’s status as a co-conservator has been confirmed by this current report. Despite the judge’s acceptance of Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator, further paperwork must be submitted to make everything official, according to TMZ.

According to court records obtained by Variety: “The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice.”

Judge Penny’s denial of Britney’s plea comes a week after the “Gimme More” singer testified in court via phone, where she disclosed the seemingly “abusive” nature of her conservatorship before later filing a petition to have it all ended.

A new hearing has been set for July 14 which will hopefully touch on the singer’s petition to have her conservatorship cancelled.
