According to TMZ, Jay-Z’s TIDAL sale to Twitter’s Jack Dorsey has been finalized, with a final price tag of $350 million. Dorsey’s Square company now holds an 80 percent stake in TIDAL and is in control of the platform’s distribution agreements with the major record labels.
One of TIDAL’s main selling points was that it was spearheaded by a number of major artist-owners, including Rihanna, Coldplay, and Nicki Minaj, all of whom are reportedly still on board.
The rapper-turned-business mogul bought TIDAL for $56 million in 2015, implying a huge profit which in turn is also beneficial to its owners. Even after the sale, Jay-Z and Desiree Perez of Roc Nation will continue to help with the company’s operations.
