Jay Sean is turning up the heat with his new single ‘Body’, embracing an Afro-dance sound as he continues an energetic new chapter in his career.
Following the Afro-house-inspired ‘All We Know’, ‘Body’ combines warm Afro-dance rhythms with Jay’s signature pop and R&B melodies, while weaving in touches of his South Asian heritage.
Speaking about his latest musical direction, Jay said: “This year, I’m deliberately keeping the energy up. I’ve done a lot of heartbreak and slow jams over the years! Right now, I’m enjoying making music that makes people want to dance, go out, travel and live a little.”
The release adds another chapter to a career that has seen the London-born singer break significant barriers for South Asian artists in mainstream music. His global smash ‘Down’ became the first Billboard Hot 100 No.1 by a South Asian artist and has since achieved Diamond certification.
Beyond music, Jay is expanding into several new projects. His upcoming podcast Everything Changes will explore identity, career, family, success and failure, while a documentary chronicling his career and musical legacy is currently in production.
He is also developing and starring in scripted comedy series Not Quite There Yet with Big Deal Films.
