Issa Rae has entered a new phase of her career after signing a first-look deal with Paramount, marking a major expansion of her influence across film and television.
Under the agreement, Rae will develop and produce scripted content for Paramount’s film and TV divisions, continuing her mission to spotlight stories by and for underrepresented communities. The deal builds on her reputation as one of Hollywood’s most consistent creative voices, following the success of projects including Insecure, Rap Sh!t, and American Fiction.
“I’m so looking forward to starting this next chapter with the incredible team at Paramount to tell stories for and by the diverse communities that have supported my work over the years,” Rae said in a statement.
Paramount executives were equally enthusiastic. Goldberg and Greenstein praised Rae as “a true creative force whose work consistently feels fresh, funny, and deeply human,” adding that she embodies the kind of artist the studio is eager to partner with to “break new ground in elevated storytelling.”
The deal further cements Rae’s position as a powerhouse behind the camera, signaling more culturally resonant, creator-driven projects to come as she continues shaping the future of mainstream entertainment.
