In anticipation of the release of her LP ‘Alicia,’ Alicia Keys had a sit down with Apple’s Zane Lowe for Beat 1. She talked about everything from her new album, to working with her husband, producer Swizz Beatz and which of her album is her favourite.
Speaking on how she got the name for her new album she said, “I feel so strongly about calling this work ‘Alicia’. Because I feel like I have, for the first time, been most fully myself now.”
She also shared what she learned from working with her husband. “He teaches me about this openness to try whatever, whereas I’m quite mental. I’m like, ‘I’m want to make sure this sounds great.”
On her favourite album and the significance of it in her life, she said, “It was the first time that I did something without compromise. And it leads me to her, Alicia because I started to understand, ‘Wow, look at all these feelings that you have.”
