According to Deadline, HBO’s ‘Love Craft Country’ will not be renewed for a second season.
Love Craft Country, based on Matt Ruff’s book, captivated audiences with its blend of horror, drama, historical references, and fantasy. The Season 1 finale of Love Craft Country, starring Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors, drew a series-high audience on HBO (1.5 million) and became the most-watched new episode of an original series on HBO Max on its first day of availability. The debut episode had surpassed the 10 million viewing milestone by the time the finale was released in October.
In a statement to Deadline, HBO said: “We will not be moving forward with the second season of Lovecraft Country. We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey.”
Misha Green developed, executive produced and directed the first season, which was produced by J.J. Abrams. But Abrams’ Bad Robot and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions did not guarantee a renewal, according to Deadline.
