The Doodle created by artists Alyssa Winans, Olivia When, and Sophie Diao, serves as a tribute to Avicii – real name, Tim Bergling – and his hit single ‘Wake Me Up,’ ahead of the artists birthday.
The animation tells a story of a young boy who wants to be a musician playing the guitar as a youngster, creating mixes on his laptop as a preteen, and spinning at a party as a teenager, overlaid with colorful doodles of him. The animation subsequently depicts the world-famous producer losing himself in music as he traverses the globe, amassing a multitude of fans.
Inspired by 60s soul, 80s glam-rock, & many genres in between, #Avicii grew up influenced by music across the spectrum 🎶
By age 16, he was DJing & mixing 🎧
In 2011 at age 18, Avicii released his groundbreaking single "Levels" 🎼#GoogleDoodle → https://t.co/rZTAvSjoTj pic.twitter.com/9Sfyyv6yGa

Like many globally, #Avicii struggled with his mental health. Unfortunately, he died by suicide in 2018.
His legacy lives on in the Tim Bergling Foundation (@aviciicharity), promoting mental health awareness especially for young people.#GoogleDoodle → https://t.co/rZTAvSjoTj pic.twitter.com/K6JAhfO1OH

Illustrator Alyssa told Consequence Of Sound: “The truth is Tim struggled a great deal during the touring part of his adulthood, and I wanted to find a way to both touch on the realities of that experience, while still celebrating and honouring his life in a way that fit the lyrics and tone of the track.”
She went on: “I ultimately decided to spend the majority of the video on the aspects of his life he loved, with a few symbolic moments to allude to some of the more emotionally challenging experiences.”
Following the release of the Doodle, the father of Avicii, Klas Bergling, praised the art as “fantastic,” saying that he felt “honoured.”
He added: “It is a friendly and warm story of a young man fulfilling his dream to be a DJ and at the same time telling us that our journey in life is not always easy despite fame and fortune.”
Also, in honour of Avicii, Sweden’s Ericsson Globe was officially renamed Avicii Arena, a few months back.
