A Quiet Place Part II, directed by John Krasinki, was first to achieve the feat in just three weekends after its premiere, whereas Godzilla Vs. Kong took twelve. Nonetheless, the latter grossed $48.1 million during its first five days.

Considering that Los Angeles and New York City wasn’t reopened to their full capacity at the time, the film’s results were phenomenal, serving as optimism to other major studios hoping to get their film into cinemas, and it confirmed that viewers were ready to return to the theaters safely amid the pandemic.

The film’s success also landed filmmaker Adam Wingard a new gig, as he was shortly tapped to direct Warner Bros.’ ‘ThunderCats.’ He’ll also collaborate on the script with his pal Simon Barrett. During an interview with Deadline, the filmmaker described ‘ThunderCats’ as his “dream project.”

Wingard said of the 1980s cartoon of the same name: “Nobody on this planet knows or has thought as much about ThunderCats as I have,” he said. “They gave me the reins. I saw this as an opportunity to do a new type of fantasy sci-fi spectacle film that people have never seen before. According to Deadline, the movie is said to be a mix of CGI and animation.

We can’t wait!
