Riding high off his hugely successful Las Vegas residency and a string of recent achievements, R&B veteran USHER returns with the visual treatment to his new single, “Ruin.”
The music video follows the “Confessions” hitmaker’s continuous success since the start of his Vegas concerts, which have included viral moments with celebrity guests notably Keke Palmer and the recent release of his hit track, “Good Good.”
Ush is also set to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show and release his new album, “Coming Home,” ahead of his much anticipated performance. He’s also slated to headline the Lovers & Friends festival, where he’ll perform his legendary album “Confessions” in commemoration of its 20th anniversary. As if that wasn’t enough to get fans excited, the award-winning star releases “Ruin” to build anticipation for his impending performances.
In “Ruin,” Usher embraces the Afrobeats genre, collaborating with Nigerian producer Pheelz, renowned for his impressive work with Davido and others. Usher skillfully incorporates the genre without altering his distinctive style, delivering a rhythmic melody than transcends musical barriers and cultures.
The accompanying music video, directed by Dave Meyers, reunites the duo 23 years after their collaboration on the “U Remind Me” video. Shot in a luxurious house, the video depicts Usher bidding farewell to past lovers and concludes with a touching scene of him singing to his daughter.
