Tyla has released “IS IT LOVE,” the latest single from her forthcoming sophomore album A*POP, arriving July 24th. The track sits between club energy and genuine emotional depth, opening with lyrics that are doing the heavy-lifting: “Is it love, if you don’t cry? It don’t mean shit if I don’t see tears in those eyes.” The video, directed by Aerin Moreno, builds around that tension through blue-tinted visuals, choreography, and symbolic destruction — shattered glass, flooding — all pointing at something that feels lost.
Ahead of its arrival, the song landed on Instagram and TikTok with a teaser that hit 250,000 views in the first hour, and fans immediately wanted the full version. It feels much like Tyla has been building toward this release on a schedule that is relentless in the best way. She began her summer with a thrilling performance at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, including the official single “Game Time” with Future. She also released her track, “Chanel,” which has been everywhere. She has just been nominated for two BET Awards, months after winning her second Grammy this year for Best African Music Performance.
In anticipation for her new album, Tyla will perform at Mawazine Festival in Morocco on June 21st, with a slew of follow-up festival dates across Europe including Afronation in Portugal, Beach Please! in Romania, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Hellwatt in Italy, after the release of A*POP.
