Alté trailblazer Boj returns with a major moment in his rollout, dropping two new singles—”Contraband” featuring Olamide and “Diamonds” featuring Mavo. Both tracks arrive at midnight, accompanied by the Lagos-shot music video for “Diamonds“, offering fans a first glimpse into the sonic world of his upcoming sixth studio album, Duplicity, release today, December 5th.
The album explores themes of duality, delving into the tension between light and darkness and the interplay of good and bad. “Contraband” gets an electrifying lift from Olamide, turning it into a club-ready anthem, while “Diamonds” leans into Afrofuturist textures as Boj and Mavo craft a smooth, experimental soundscape. Production comes from Blaise Beats—known for his work with Davido, Fireboy DML, and Rema—and Genio, whose collaborations with Cruel Santino and Teni have shaped some of the genre’s most adventurous moments.
Boj’s momentum has been building all year, with a packed London listening event that drew Odumodublvck, King Promise, Teezee, NSG, and Ajerbutter22. In the fashion world, he’s made appearances at MAINS by Skepta, Labrum, and Charlie Constantinou during London Fashion Week.
His critically acclaimed album Gbagada Express earned him a Headie Award for Best Alternative Album, an AIM nomination, and a spot on The Guardian’s Albums of the Year list. He has sold out Village Underground—bringing out Wizkid and Enny—and appeared on Dave’s platinum-selling album We’re All Alone In This Together.
