Stonebwoy has just released his much-anticipated sixth studio album, UP & RUNNIN6, delivering a captivating fusion of African and Caribbean rhythms that speaks to his immense creative vision.

The body of work is as much philosophical as it is musical, with the title UP & RUNNIN6 reflecting a purposeful outlook on life, while emphasising themes of personal growth and impact. Collaborating with a diverse lineup of artists, including Wyclef Jean, Jahmiel, Spice, and Duncan Mighty, Stonebwoy brings together a unique mix of sounds, bridging musical traditions across continents.

Up & RUNNIN6 is a journey through his influences, crafted with an authentic African sound intended to evoke both nostalgia and pride. His intricate creative process — from laying down melodies to weaving in lyrics and adlibs — allows each track to feel as though it resonates with the listener’s soul. His intention is to celebrate the soundscapes and stories of Africa, transporting fans to the continent through music that is both familiar and innovative.

“The Stonebwoy sound is a complete combination of music of Black origin,” Stone tells OkayAfrica. “When you see Stonebwoy, you see Black music and you see Ghana.”

Continuing his tradition of integrating conscious and positive messaging, Stonebwoy’s album doesn’t shy away from themes that inspire thought and introspection, to which he said:

“…it’s inspiring to understand how our brain works as creatives,” Stone asserts. “Sometimes we can’t really explain or describe what it is, but rest assured, we get onto the microphone — it comes through us, for the people.”
