East London R&B newcomer kwn (pronounced kay-wuhn) has just released her latest single, “do what i say,” showcasing her signature blend of bold lyricism and sensual production.
Crafted in the intimacy of her bedroom studio, the track carries a cheeky edge, seductive melodies, and a sultry chorus that builds on her growing reputation for fearless creativity.
Speaking on the creative process, kwn revealed that the song initially began at half its final speed. “I wasn’t feeling very creative at the time and was just trying to see what clicked,” she said. “When I made the song, it was like half the speed, but I sped it up and realized it was way better. Lyrically, it’s really just me having fun with my pen and seeing how cheeky I could get.”
The single arrives on the heels of a breakout moment for the artist, who was recently named Billboard’s “Rookie of the Month,” solidifying her status as one to watch. Last year, she gained viral attention after collaborating with Kehlani on a remix of her track “worst behaviour,” which has since racked up over 8 million views. That collab also led to kwn joining Kehlani on her European tour.
Her previous releases include the original version of “worst behaviour” and “eyes wide open,” a self-produced track that has amassed more than 4 million streams. More recently, she teamed up with Jordan Adetunji on the track “Too Many Women,” continuing to build momentum with each release.
