The Atlanta rapper just released his new track “Spiral,” the first from the forthcoming Saw franchise installment Spiral: From the Book of Saw, which is due to hit theaters next month. 21 had previously revealed himself as the soundtrack’s executive director, but this is the first time people have seen him fully embrace the Saw theme.
In the ninth installment of the series, 21 pays homage to what made the previous films so memorable by doing his own version of the classic Saw theme song. 21 floats over the trap-infused rendering of the theme better known as “Hello Zepp,” with the updated, 21-approved version created by Kid Hazel, giving the Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson film some extra savagery.
21 is no stranger to incorporating horror movie references into his work, as shown by his latest video for Savage Mode II’s single “Glock in My Lap,” which gave audiences a fright.
According to a synopsis from Lionsgate, Spiral follows a police veteran and his rookie colleague as they “take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past,” however, Rock’s character, the vet, suddenly realizes he’s in the “center of the killer’s morbid game.”
