Following the shooting of Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson in south London a few days ago, five suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to reports, Sasha, 27, is still in critical condition fighting for her life.
Five individuals aged 17 to 28 have now been detained on suspicion of attempted murder and other crimes, according to the Metropolitan Police.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 17-year-old was apprehended after a stop and search. He was detained on accusations of having an offensive weapon and having class A narcotics with the intent to distribute them.
Three guys, ages 18, 19, and 28, were detained for affray and possession with intent to supply class B narcotics, while a fifth guy, 25, was detained for affray and failure to stop for police. All five suspects are currently being held in jail, while investigations commence.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said: “While the investigation remains in its early stages, these arrests show that progress is being made.”
“However, I would continue to appeal to those who may hold information about the events that led to Sasha receiving her horrific injuries, or about those responsible, to do the right thing and come forward and speak to police.”
At this point, our thoughts and prayers remain with Sasha and her loved ones.
