After sharing a cryptic message on social media on Friday 7th May, the Sugababes fuelled rumors of a comeback as their official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, shared a graphic with the band’s name displayed, with the lettering reminiscent of their debut album, One Touch, from 2000.

A quick melody played as flowers drifted around the front of the screen and a band of lavender floated along the side of the screen in a short clip. The website ‘sugababes.com’ was clearly described in the caption, with three emojis matching the skin tone and hair color of the original members Mutya Buena, 35, Keisha Buchanan, 36, and Siobhan Donaghy, 36, sitting above.

This news comes after the Sugababes had to cancel their plans to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut album One Touch due to solo ventures and complications with the pandemic.

Keisha now lives in Canada, and Mutya is focusing on new solo albums. Siobhan opted not to go to the studio in order to shield her young son from coronavirus. Keisha, on the other hand, previously mentioned in an Instagram Live session that the trio are looking for the right opportunity to return to the industry.

During the live session, Keisha said: ”We had so many plans for last year. 2020 was our anniversary year, we built it up to do so many things but it didn’t happen, so we have to restructure.

“We just have to be motivated to do it and passionate about it and once we are actually in the studio it flows really easily for us.

“But it’s about getting us all on the same page on the same date and the pandemic makes it really tricky. It just has to be organic and be on the same page as far as our schedules are concerned.”

Fans took to social media after the clip surfaced online and it will be an understatement to say they are excited for the possibility of a comeback.
