Ezra Collective are tracing the journey of Black music across generations with their fourth studio album, Here Because of Hope, out now via Partisan Records.

The Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning London band explore the movement of music and culture from West Africa through the Caribbean and into Britain, celebrating how those histories continue to influence contemporary British sounds.

At the centre of the record is Salsa-influenced focus track ‘El Corazón’, which also features in the newly released Rehearsal Tapes live video alongside two further tracks from the album.

Here Because of Hope also includes ‘Only Love’ featuring Pa Salieu, ‘Well Organised’ featuring Lila Iké and instrumental ‘Jubilee Feeling’. Together, the tracks reflect the album’s musical journey, moving through West African influences, Caribbean sounds and London’s meeting point of UK jazz and Funky House.

The release arrives during another major period for Ezra Collective, following their historic Mercury Prize victory and BRIT Award for Group of the Year.

To celebrate the album, the band are taking over The Roundhouse in London on September 16 for a sold-out underplay featuring special guests.

That comes ahead of Ezra Collective’s biggest global headline tour to date, which will travel across Australia, Asia, North America, Europe and the UK. The run will culminate with four sold-out nights at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, continuing the group’s remarkable rise from London’s grassroots jazz scene to some of the world’s biggest stages.
