YEEEAAH! Network had the honour of attending the prestigious London premiere of the 5 part documentary LEGACY. PUNCH Records, a Birmingham-based agency, proudly presents its latest project, a captivating 5 part mini-documentary series and book titled LEGACY, scheduled to be unveiled on November 15th 2023. Both the book and the documentary series are dedicated to delving into the untold stories of Birmingham’s Grime, Hip-Hop, and Rap scenes, shedding light on the influential artists who have shaped and impacted the Black music scene, paving the way for new genres and artists to emerge.
The book, co-authored by Jess Monroe and Casey Bailey, delves into the rich history of the Birmingham Black music scene, the evolution of radio and other platforms, the influential producers who have shaped the UK sound, iconic clashes that have created viral moments, and significant cultural milestones that have defined 0121. Jess Monroe, a prominent figure in the Midlands music scene, takes center stage as the key author and interviewer for all talent on LEGACY. He is joining her as co-author is the award-winning writer, performer, and educator Casey Bailey, also a proud representative of Birmingham. The book also features the incredible work of photographers Jamie Drew, and Jonathan Williams, and renowned designer Ryan Killeen, best known for his contributions to the MOBO Awards.
