Erica Mena, who has been married to Safaree for less than two years, filed for divorce on Friday.
Mena, who is reportedly pregnant with the couple’s second child, is demanding primary physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter Safire, according to court records obtained by TMZ. Mena is said to be open to joint legal custody, but she will seek child care and sole use of the Georgia home where they shared.
The lack of a wedding ring in the Love & Hip-Hop star’s latest Instagram videos, according to TMZ, is proof that their union is on the rocks. Another potential indication that things weren’t going right was Safaree’s absence from all of her pictures.
Safaree tweeted in late February that getting married was “1 of my biggest mistakes,” and that he plans to split before he gets into trouble due to their disparities. He wrote, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart getting married was 1 of my BIGGEST mistakes and it will never happen again. I’m walking away before I end up in jail over some dumb shit. Nobody is worth my freedom!!!”
Erica replied in a series of deleted tweets by agreeing with his viewpoint on marriage and accusing Safaree of being “the most selfish, vain, and inconsiderate person.” Mena decided to be more mature about the issues rather than encouraging their marital problems to spill over into social media, warning him that he “shouldn’t try her again.”
