Bass music producer Cookie Monsta, born Tony Cook, has died at age 31.

A statement was released by his label Circus Record on Friday, October 2nd stating:

“We are devastated, no words can contain our feelings on such a day. All our thoughts go to Tony’s family, friends and our heart goes out especially to Tony’s son Olly the little Mini Monsta.”

The cause of his death is not yet known, with Circus stating, “Out of respect for Tony’s family, we will hold off on commenting any further until deemed appropriate.”

The seasoned UK-born producer was on the global bass music scene as he played many of the world’s biggest dance music festivals, including Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Electric Zoo and Glastonbury.

Musicians, record labels and fans have shared tributes on social media following the news. It includes:

A tweet from Never Say Die Records, “The Scene has suffered a huge loss today. Rest in peace Cookie Monsta, a friend and an inspiration to so many.”

Producer Downlink tweeted, “I remember passing tunes back and forth on the dubstep forum back in the day…a true OG and pioneer of the dirty dubstep sound has left us. RIP Tony Cookie monsta.”
