According to Alpha Data, Certified Lover Boy out-streamed Donda’s whole first week in just three days. From Friday, September 3rd through Sunday, September 7th, ‘CLB’ was streamed over 430 million times in the US. Donda, on the other hand, surpassed 423 million streams in its first eight days. CLB’s final first-week numbers are expected this weekend.
As previously reported, Ye’s ‘Donda’ sold 309,000 equivalent album copies during the week ending September 2nd. Meanwhile, Drizzy’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ is estimated to gross between 575,000 and 625,000 album-equivalent copies in its first week with a 7-day total for US streams projected to be between 650 million and 700 million.
However, due to CLB’s release on a Sunday, Drake had a two-day advantage over ‘Ye. Although, even with two extra days of tracking, Kanye would have struggled to surpass what is shaping out to be the year’s biggest debuts. The fact that Donda has surpassed a billion global streams in just ten days will likely soothe Kanye.
