Drake Bell, the former star of Nickelodeon’s famous program Drake and Josh, was recently arrested in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and charged with spreading material detrimental to children and attempting to endanger minors. Bell appeared in court on June 3 and pleaded not guilty, posting a $2,500 bail and agreeing not to contact his claimed victim.

The charges were derived from an event on December 1, 2017, in which Bell is accused of having a sexual conversation with an underage victim. The then-15-year-old victim filed a complaint with her local police station in Canada in October 2018 about the incident, which occurred in Cleveland, Ohio, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

Following the complaint, an investigation that was launched into the matter revealed that the victim had a long-standing relationship with Bell and that in the months preceding up to the incident, Bell had sent the victim improper social media messages. Bell is also facing charges of attempted child endangerment, a fourth-degree felony, and disseminating matter harmful to minors, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Bell is anticipated to enter a plea of no contest or guilty to the bill of information during a pretrial hearing planned for June 23 via Zoom.
