Ashley Banjo has spoken out about the racist abuse he and his fellow Diversity performers have received since their performance on Britain’s Got Talent, which featured references to the Black Lives Matter movement.
The routine was met with widespread praise at the time, but in the week that followed, it has also led to more than 15,000 complaints to media regulator Ofcom.
Addressing this issue in an Instagram video, Ashely told fans, “We’re feeling positive, proud, happy, confident and we stand by every single decision that we made with that performance.”
However, he went on to speak about the racism he and many other members of Diversity have experienced since the performance aired, revealing that it has been “overwhelming” at times.
