Following the severe online backlash Justin Timberlake endured after the arrival of The New York Times’ ‘Framing Britney Spears’ documentary, the singer took to social media to offer a long-overdue apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson.
Taking to Instagram, JT posted: “I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”
Following his apology and admittance of guilt, fans took to social media to show support to Britney and Janet Jackson and in the midst was Tinashe, who has widely made known her love for the music icons.
She tweeted:
Anyone who knows me knows Britney Spears and Janet Jackson are literally my two biggest idols in the whole universe and I just hope they know how much they mean to me/us ❤️

To which Jackson replied with:

Although the reaction was less than many had hoped to see from the icon, it is a sign that she appreciates the feedback from her fans and loved ones.
