Following the tense nature in the U.S. as Trump supporters stormed the capitol, Demi Lovato took to her social media to speak out against the act but ended up being vilified in the process.
Demi replied to a post by the official Black Lives Matter which read: “So we all just gonna act like it’s ok that white folks are storming the Capitol with no police response! But when we protesting to save our damn lives the police beat the S*$T out of us. Come on y’all!.”
Demi then wrote, “My heart is broken. It makes me to sad to believe how naive I was to think this couldn’t possibly happen, and yet it did. Here we are. For everyone in my comments saying “where’s d7” or wanting me to sing instead of speaking up about what needs to change in this country…”
My heart is broken. It makes me to sad to believe how naive I was to think this couldn’t possibly happen, and yet it did. Here we are. For everyone in my comments saying “where’s d7” or wanting me to sing instead of speaking up about what needs to change in this country… pic.twitter.com/md5XPFmj2B

Following with another tweet: “THIS IS WHY I POST AS MUCH AS I DO. THIS IS WHY I CARE. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN ANY F*CKING MORE. I’m angry, embarrassed and ashamed. I’m in the studio working on something special after today’s assault on democracy. #impeachtrumptonight.”
THIS IS WHY I POST AS MUCH AS I DO. THIS IS WHY I CARE. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN ANY FUCKING MORE. I’m angry, embarrassed and ashamed.

Moments after her second tweet, fans stormed her Twitter, trolling the singer for being ‘tone-deaf’ and promoting new music during an incident as such.
Girl just open your fucking purse and donate some money…it does a lot more than writing and releasing songs then keeping the proceeds or profit made..like

To the people in the replies telling me stfu or whatever..demi already released a political song this year..We see what's going on everyday on the news and Twitter..ain't nobody trying to hear about US democracy in another song..the song ain't gonna heal the world chile

Why are y’all saying “spill” … she’s not ignoring what’s happening she’s using her voice. Making music is also a form of therapy. Remember “Commander In Chief”? Regardless if you liked it… it created more conversation in addition to tweets & posts about the political climate.

no girl pls, u can speak out whatever u want, we appreciate u using your plataform but we don't need no songs about it ✨

but it’s so simple… if you don’t like it then just don’t listen to it, if she wants to use music to express her feelings and opinions about it it’s up to her, what is wrong with this?

Truly we understand where both parties are coming from and somewhat feel Lovato was just trying to show her support through what she knows best which happens to be music. But was the timing a bit off?
What are your thoughts?
