Cassie Ventura, the longtime former partner of Sean “Diddy” Combs, is set to testify under her real name in his upcoming federal trial—a bold and significant move as the music mogul faces a litany of serious criminal charges. Identified as “Victim 1” in court documents, Cassie has decided not to remain anonymous during proceedings.
The trial follows Diddy’s September 2024 arrest which took place after coordinated federal raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. He faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy is currently being held at MDC Brooklyn, a federal detention center, while awaiting trial scheduled to begin on May 5th, 2025. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges and continues to deny the allegations against him.
Cassie’s identity had already been widely associated with the case, largely due to the release of surveillance footage from a hotel showing an alleged physical altercation between her and Combs. The video, referenced directly in the indictment, brought renewed attention to their history and made anonymity in the courtroom nearly impossible.
While Cassie will appear under her real name, three other alleged victims involved in the trial have requested to keep their identities private. Prosecutors are advocating for the use of pseudonyms in order to protect the women from harassment, threats, and other potential consequences that could arise from public exposure. The court has yet to finalize how these protections will be handled during testimony.
Cassie previously made headlines in November 2023 when she filed a civil lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of rape, physical abuse, and human trafficking over the course of their relationship. Though the lawsuit was quickly settled just one day after it was filed, the disturbing claims within it served as a catalyst for broader investigations and appear to have prompted several other alleged victims to come forward.
