While social media can be very supportive and kind at times, for the most part, it can be a vicious and ugly place, and celebrities, sadly, frequently get the worst of it.
Lizzo, the multi-Grammy Award winner, recently took to Instagram Live to explain how much the negative criticism she got on body-shaming is affecting her, particularly in regard to her latest single ‘ Rumors’ ft. Cardi B.
Lizzo said during her IG Live: “Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back.
“For the most part, it doesn’t bother me. It’s just that when I’m working this hard, my tolerance gets lower. My patience is lower. I’m sensitive and it gets to me.
If you don’t like me. Cool. If you don’t like ‘Rumors.’ Cool. But a lot of people don’t like me because of how I look.”
Cardi B, her friend and recent collaborator, defended her when a fan tweeted a clip from the IG Live, saying:
“When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive,” Cardi tweeted in reply. “When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you.Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”

After which the femcee addressed haters who claimed ‘Rumors’ was a flop, sharing screenshots of various charts which evidently show the track in Top 10.
“Rumors is doing great. Stop trying to say the song is flopping to dismiss a woman emotions on bullying or acting like they need sympathy,” she wrote. “The song is top 10 on all platforms. Body shaming and callin her mammy is mean & racist as fuck.”
