In September 2025, a phone call between Cardi B and Ice Spice‘s manager leaked publicly. On it, Cardi used Latto‘s name as a slur, “You think I’m pussy ass Latto?”, during what appeared to be a heated argument about something else entirely.
While the hostility was not directed at Latto, it was out there now, and Cardi knew it. She subsequently apologised publicly within hours, calling it a moment of frustration and promising to buy Latto a bag as a private gesture. The timing of the leak was also not ideal, as it came shortly after the two had collaborated on “ErrTime (Remix)” for Cardi‘s album.
Cardi explains she followed up privately through Latto’s manager, her sister, and eventually a direct text. But it appears Latto had already moved on by the time that text arrived. “Probably like two months later, something like that, she did text me, but by that time I’m like, ‘I’m not even thinking about that,'” Latto said on The Breakfast Club. They have not spoken since.
Cardi‘s latest response was prompted from a jab on Latto‘s “Gimme Dat” track, released on her album Big Mama on May 29th. On the track, one line caught everyone’s attention: “Talkin’ ’bout buying Big Mama a bag like my n**ga ain’t already bought it.” She confirmed on The Breakfast Club that the lyric was about Cardi, but pushed back on the idea it was a diss. “It wasn’t no diss, that’s just what was happening in my life at the time,” she said. “Like, you talking about buying Big Mama a bag? I don’t need no damn bag.”
Cardi took to X on June 4th, standing by the apology, explained the gap between what she said and what she meant, and acknowledged that reconciliation looked different for each of them. “I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album,” she wrote. “I always had love and respect for you. I always wanted to make it right.”
Both women became mothers during all of this, as Cardi welcomed her son with Stefon Diggs in November 2025, while Latto had a daughter with 21 Savage in spring 2026.
Latto‘s position now is that she is open to talking if it happens, but she is not chasing it. “I’m open to the conversation. When? I don’t know cause I got a baby now, life done kept moving.” That is probably the most honest summary of where things are… not a feud exactly, just two people on different timelines who have not found their way back to the same one yet.
