The global economy has been slowly struggling to recover from the devastation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought major markets around the world to a halt.

Despite the devastation, major industries, including entertainment, agriculture, and fossil fuels, have subsequently made concerted efforts to assure a progressive return to normalcy, and it appears that even the world’s wealthiest are feeling the effects also.

Case in point, rapper Cardi B recently took to social media to wish fans a Merry Christmas, where her festive message also included a jab at the current economic situation.

She tweeted, “We going through a recession…..Merry Christmas,” she wrote on Tuesday (December 20).

While her remark was not intended to offend or incite resentment, some Twitter users appeared to take issue with it, presumably due to the rapper’s wealth.

One Twitter user wrote in response to the “WAP” rapper’s tweet, “Says the rapper worth 40 million.” To which Cardi responded, “I’m worth more then that and guess what ? If I don’t save ,work and budget I could lose it too!”

Cardi then explained why, no matter how much money you have, you may lose it all if you don’t manage it wisely.

She wrote, “What makes you think that no matter how much money you got you can’t lose it all if you don’t manage your money correctly.I too have bills, responsibilities and people I have to help.”

Cardi spoke on the global inflation that she noticed when assisting a relative in finding housing back in September.

Cardi said at the time, “I was looking at some areas. The way that the prices soar up…like how are people surviving? I want to know. My family and my friends, they’re so grateful to have me, but it’s just like, what happens to people who don’t have a me?”
