In a bid to share his roots and humble beginnings with his global fans, Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy readies the music video for his single, “Whiskey,” which will also double as a mini-documentary.

Burna Boy’s sixth album, “Love, Damini,” was released in July 2022 and included the song “Whiskey,” in which he makes reference to the climate conditions in his hometown of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Set to arrive on Thursday, December 8th 2022, the “Sungba” hitmaker shared a teaser for the documentary on social media, with the caption: “We let the people tell their stories – Whiskey mini documentary..”

Watch the teaser clip below.

The documentary will focus on how oil extraction has caused the Niger Delta’s ecosystem to deteriorate, with the most recent issue being the region’s soot problems.

This isn’t the first time the Grammy Award winner has been vocal about the Niger Delta situation, as he previously addressed the crisis in his track, “Monsters You Made” off his highly acclaimed album “Twice As Tall.” The track also addressed the region’s main issue, extremism, which has been fueled by years of neglect and broken promises.
